How to Choose the Right Garage Floor Sealer

floor garage stone-mainIn our last blog (Do I Have to Seal My Concrete Garage Floor?) we talked about why it’s important to seal your concrete garage floor. It’s not just about looks, although a good-looking finish can certainly make your garage the envy of all your neighbours. It’s really about preserving and protecting the concrete itself from the wears of weather, particularly freeze/thaw cycles, moisture and chemical corrosion.

There are a number of different types of floor sealants on the market, the most common of which are topical sealers, acrylics, epoxies and polyurethanes. They’ve been around for years, and offer different benefits. In more recent years, hybrid polymers have also entered the market, and it is these that Tailored Living/Premier Garage has chosen as its go-to formula for getting the best all-around results. Its range of PremierOne floor coatings offer numerous benefits:

* It’s the best match for Lower Mainland rain and cold Canadian winters. Living on the “Wet Coast” is not without its unique issues, excessive moisture being one of the major ones. Hybrid polymer flooring is ideal for the ranges in weather and temperature that we experience here, from extreme heat to extreme cold and everything in between, including winter time freeze/thaw cycles. It’s even tough enough to withstand frequent and severe ones as experienced in our more Eastern provinces.

* Superior UV protection. Topical sealants and epoxies offer little to no protection from fading due to sunlight exposure. Hybrid polymers have UV protection built right in. They’ll be the same colour in ten years as the day the colour was applied.

* Easy cleaning. PremierOne hybrid polymer coatings don’t just cover concrete. They actually form a chemical bond with it, sealing it tightly and completely, resulting in a smooth, shiny surface that resists stains and dirt. A quick sweep with a brush-type mop is all that’s needed to get rid of dust and dry debris. Any spills, including those that are apt to leave stains (like motor oil) simply pool and are easily wiped away with a dry or damp rag. Even corrosive chemicals like antifreeze and battery acid can’t penetrate the bond.

* Resists chipping and peeling. Because of that chemical bond, PremierOne coatings won’t peel away from the concrete and will be highly resistant to chipping.

Tailored Living takes care of everything, starting before the floor is applied. We clean and etch the concrete to ensure a strong bond and we do the complete application.
